SUICIDE.....and the overwhelming love of God

Today I have been worshipping the Lord through watching videos of powerful Christian music. If we will permit it, God-glorifying worship music has the ability to take us out of our all-consuming focus on self, as it reaches deep down into our soul. If the music is speaking to us about the overwhelming love of God...we can actually be transformed by it. I have been watching non-Christians react to Christian music on you-tube.  When the words are focused on worshipping God and His abundant goodness, they can sense it. It is powerful and moving. Many non-Christians are overcome with thoughts of suicide as darkness threatens to take their sanity, and sadly life. But God has a different story for those willing to listen to His message. This is the "good news" of the gospel. The gospel will turn your life around when you believe it and give your life over to Jesus and ask Him to do something beautiful with what you give Him.

SUICIDE DOESN'T NEED TO BE A PART OF OUR THOUGHTS. When those thoughts are swirling around in our head, Satan is speaking to us because he wants to take us out of this world. SATAN IS THE AUTHOR OF SUICIDE. SATAN'S JOB IS TO TORMENT YOU AND MAKE YOU HATE YOUR LIFE. HE WANTS TO LEAVE YOU HOPELESS AND DESPONDENT, SO HE TELLS YOU THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN ESCAPE THESE THOUGHTS IS TO KILL YOURSELF. SATAN HAS NOTHING GOOD TO GIVE YOU, AS HE'S THE AUTHOR OF DESTRUCTION, EVIL, AND SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS.

Unfortunately, because so many have been taught almost nothing about God, evil spirits, or Satan, they spend their entire lives in torment. They are not aware that Satan’s sole job is to mess with our minds to the point that we lose all hope in this present life. Read the verse below and discover for yourself that Scripture tells us that the thief (Satan), desires nothing more than to first steal from us... and then destroy us by getting us to kill ourselves.

John 10:10 tells us: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Notice that the second sentence in this verse is Jesus speaking. He is stating that His purpose is different than Satan's. His PURPOSE is to give life and He gives it to us abundantly. So, I encourage you today if you suffer from despair, depression, or suicidal thoughts to read these words and then click on the song and listen to it. Then ask Jesus to come in and save you from your hopelessness and utter despair.

We are lost without God, until we recognize our need and ask Him to come into our heart and SAVE us.

CORY ASBURY -- RECKLESS LOVE OF GOD

(1) Reckless Love (Live with story) - Cory Asbury | Heaven Come 2017 - YouTube

(1) Reckless Love (Official Lyric Video) - YouTube

Before I spoke a word
You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath
You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down
Fights 'til I'm found
Leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it and I don't deserve it
Still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God, yeah

When I was Your foe
Still, Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth
You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down
Fights 'til I'm found
Leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it and I don't deserve it
Still, You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God, yeah

There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me

There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me

There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me

There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down
Fights 'til I'm found
Leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn't earn it and I don't deserve it
Still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending
Reckless love of God, yeah

Songwriters: Ran Jackson, Cory Asbury, Caleb Culver

Be encouraged, you can have a new life....and a life lived in pure joy with Jesus who loves you more than you will know until you turn your life around by giving it to Him. Give Jesus a chance to love you and save you from death. Don't let Satan win. Take your life back from Satan and give it to Jesus instead. YOU WILL NEVER, EVER REGRET IT!

How do you do this? Ask Jesus, the Savior of the world, to come into your heart and change you forever. You do this by surrending your life to Him. Tell Him you want Him to be your Savior so you can leave your life of hopelessness, guilt, and sin behind, once for all. This is called repentance. Then love Him and serve Him only with all your heart, soul, and mind the rest of your days.

SKEPTICS TRY TO PROVE THE BIBLE IS NOT TRUE

Skeptics use the difficulties of Scripture as an argument against the Bible; but many who tried to prove the Bible false, discovered with further examination, that it was indeed true. The Bible holds strong evidence of its Divine inspiration. If it contained a simple account of God that we could easily comprehend with our finite minds, then it wouldn’t bear the unmistakable marks of Divine authority.

Isaiah 14:27: For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?

WHAT JESUS IS FOR US...

Isaiah 1:18: Come now, let’s settle this, says the LORD. Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. NLT
This truth, and all that God wants us to know, is revealed to us in His Word, though salvation in Jesus, and by what the Holy Spirit reveals to us in our spirit. This is for the believer’s benefit and blessing. Hebrews 1:3 tells us what Jesus is for us.

Hebrews 1:3: And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power when He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high…

God’s never-ending, infinite knowledge was not passed on to us. However, He did leave us His Word and gives us vast wisdom, reasoning, memory, and intelligence, but it will never be equal to God’s. If we desire to have these attributes to a greater degree, we can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal more truth and wisdom to us. Even if we don’t ask, but regularly get into God’s Word to receive enlightenment, instead of reading it as a requirement, then we’ll glean more godly wisdom as a result.
God delights when we ask for His good gifts. When we ask Him to fill us with His presence and power, He gives us the dominion that’s promised to those who love and serve Him. Of course, if we remain carnal and neglect our spiritual inheritance, then we remain weak and ineffective in our Christian walk and talk.

James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

What God wants us to know is written in His Word to us. We grow stronger and wiser by staying in it. The Holy Spirit living in us, witnesses to our spirit that God’s nature is one of love and truth. When we remain in Him, we have everything we need in this life and life ever after.

 WE ARE HEIRS WITH CHRIST

Romans 8:15-17: For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.”

Everywhere we see wonders that are beyond our human understanding. So, we should not be surprised to find that in the spiritual world, there are mysteries that we can’t understand. Our difficulty lies solely in the weakness and limitations of our human mind, for God has given us enough evidence in Scripture of the Trinity’s Divine character. Therefore, we’re not to doubt God’s Word just because we can’t understand all the mysteries of His being.

The Apostle Peter says in 2 Peter 3:16: …as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. ESV

HOW TO BE THE BEST AND MOST PROLIFIC CHRISTIAN AUTHOR POSSIBLE

7 WRITING TIPS FROM CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON, WHO WAS THE MOST PROLIFIC CHRISTIAN AUTHOR OF ALL-TIME!

Prior to the standardization of typewriters—let alone the development of computers—Charles Spurgeon literally penned a boatload of content. He’s considered to be the most widely read preacher and he produced more written material than any other Christian in history. Here’s a sampling of his production:

  • Wrote over 140 books
  • Penned up to 500 personal letters per week
  • Published a monthly magazine called The Sword and the Trowel
  • Transcribed his weekly sermons that today fill 63 volumes and total between 20–25 million words

Charles Spurgeon’s work has been translated into multiple languages and has sold millions of copies worldwide.

He can make you laugh, cry, and become awestruck with God with the stroke of his pen and eloquent prose. Here are seven writing tips taken from his life for aspiring writers.

1. Write to Help others

“We are very mistaken, if our work does not prove to be of the utmost value to purchasers of books…no object in view but the benefit of our brethren…it will be remuneration enough to have aided the ministers of God in the study of his word” (Sword & Trowel, March 1876).

2. Write Short

“Long visits, long stories, long essays, long exhortations, and long prayers, seldom profit those who have to do with them. Life is short. Time is short.…Moments are precious. Learn to condense, abridge, and intensify…In making a statement, lop off branches; stick to the main facts in your case. If you pray, ask for what you believe you will receive, and get through; if you speak, tell your message and hold your peace; if you write, boil down two sentences into one, and three words into two. Always when practicable avoid lengthiness — learn to be short” (Sword & Trowel, September 1871).

3. Write for God

“Courteous reader, throughout another year we have endeavored, month by month, to provide for your entertainment and edification. For both, because the first is to the most of men needful to produce the second, and also because God hath joined them together, and no man should put them asunder” (Sword & Trowel, Preface, 1875).

4. Write Clearly

“So I gathered that my sermons were clear enough to be understood by anybody who was not so conceited as to darken his own mind with pride. Now, if boys read The Sword and the Trowel it cannot be said to shoot over people’s heads, nor can it be said to be very dull and dreary” (Sword & Trowell, November 1874).

5. Write to Compel

“It was an ill day when religion became so decorous as to call dullness her companion, and mirth became so frivolous as to demand the divorce of instruction from amusement. It is not needful that magazines for Christian reading should be made up of pious platitudes, heavy discourses, and dreary biographies of nobodies: the Sabbath literature of our families might be as vivacious and attractive as the best of amusing serials, and yet as deeply earnest and profitable as the soundest of divines would desire” (Sword & Trowel, Preface, 1875).

“If the writer had possessed genius and literary ability, this might have been a highly interesting work; but as the writers’ sole qualification is his honesty of purpose, the work is most reliable and dull” (Sword & Trowel, November 1882).

6. Write, Write, & Write

“Many of our hours of pain and weakness have been lightened by preparing the first volume of our book on the Psalms for the press. If we could not preach we could write, and we pray that this form of service may be accepted of the Lord” (Sword & Trowel, January 1870).

7. Read to Write

“Read good authors, that you may know what English is, you will find it to be a language very rarely written nowadays, and yet the grandest of all human tongues” (Sword & Trowel, August 1871).

PRACTICAL ACTIONS TO INCREASE YOUR FAITH

God’s goals for us are always greater than ours. If God were to give us what we want every time we wanted it, it would be similar to a lazy parent giving in to their child’s constant demands of “gimee, gimee” because they don’t want to be bothered with the difficult task of teaching what’s correct and better. This is not responsible parenting. God always parents us out of His great love for us. He ALWAYS does what’s best for us because He's ALWAYS our most faithful and responsible parent.

Delayed gratification is difficult for many of us.  We want things to happen immediately, but the Word teaches us to wait upon the Lord for His perfect timing. When we insist that our way is better, and our timing is more perfect than God’s, we’re simply delaying the very thing we’re seeking. Only by growing in spiritual maturity can we later see our selfish desires were the product of our immature heart.

If we build up our faith to know God’s true nature—that He takes care of those who are faithful to love and serve Him, we’ll not be inclined towards unbelief when we don’t see what we asked for immediately. Remaining in faith builds up our endurance. A steady faith in a good God who provides for His children keeps us in perfect peace.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

God is trustworthy and He doesn’t lie. So everything He says to us in His Word can be trusted to be true. Steadfast faith is empowering faith, and it enables us to be confident about our future.

If you’ve been a Christian for many years, but still operate out of worry and fear, it may be that you’ve not “built up” your faith by remaining in and having confidence in God’s Word.

Practical actions to increase your faith

1.      Study consistently. Don’t quickly read through the Word of God. Study goes beyond reading a few minutes of devotional material. Christians are to meditate on God’s Word. Only then will it begin to strengthen you and make you steady.

2.      Surround yourself with the people of God and spend less time with worldly people. Much of what comes out of unbelievers’ mouths will influence you negatively and decrease your faith, not increase it. Solomon advised that we must be careful of our associations. We’re to avoid fools at all cost, lest they influence us negatively. Non-believers operate out of foolish motives for they don’t possess the wisdom of God.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish” (Psalm 1:1-6, ESV).

3.      Immerse yourself in prayer to God. Ask Him for the things that you know line up with His will. Reading the Word gets you familiar with what He wants for you. This is the will of God for your life. Asking rightly will bring you the right things.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4).

20 WAYS SATAN ATTACKS US

Satan is known as the serpent, the Great Dragon, Beelzebub, the ruler of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the evil one, and the adversary. If you follow Jesus and love Him, then you are his target. You don’t have to do anything. He hates you for this reason alone. He goes about his work as a roaring lion as he stalks you to destroy you.

My soon to be published book (WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SATAN’S TACTICS) will show you how to stand firm and resist your enemy! Believers don’t need to tremble in fear—for they have weapons available to them 24/7, that non-believers don’t have access to. The best way to resist Satan is by not being naïve about him and by being familiar with God’s ways to make him flee from you.
20 WAYS SATAN WORKS TO DESTROY US
1. He may slander God to you to try and cast doubt on God’s goodness and shipwreck your faith (Gen 3:4-5).
2. He may tempt you to deceive others to create, or maintain, the impression of being more spiritual (Acts 5:3; Jn 8:44).
3. He may corrupt your mind and steer you away from the simplicity of Christ and His gospel (2 Cor 11:3).
4. He may hinder your gospel witness and steal it from unsuspecting hearts (1 Thess 2:18; Matt 13:19).
5. He may wrestle against you, fighting against your progress in Christ (Eph 6:12).
6. He may tempt you to commit sexual immorality against your spouse as a result of neglecting the intimacy of the marriage bed (1 Cor 7:5).
7. He may harass you with some form of fleshly affliction (2 Cor 12:7).
8. He may blind the spiritual eyes of your unsaved family, friends, and neighbors so that they may not see the glory of Jesus in the gospel (2 Cor 4:4).
9. He may keep your unsaved acquaintances in bondage to sins that hinder them from coming to God (Gal 4:8).
10. He may strike you with physical disease (Luke 13:16; Job 2:7).
11. He may murder you (Ps 106:37; Jn 8:44).
12. He may sow tares [counterfeit Christians, sons of the evil one] within your assembly of believers to deceive and create disunity (Mt 13:38-39; 2 Cor 11:13-15).
13. He may lead you toward theological compromise by causing you to accept false doctrine and false teachers (1 Tim 4:1-3).
14. He may persecute you for your godliness (Rev 2:10).
15. He may tempt you to do evil (Matt 4:1; 1 Thess 3:5).
16. He is—at this moment—prowling about seeking to capture and destroy you, mainly through pride (1 Pet 5:6-8).
17. He will most assuredly slander you before God in heaven (Rev 12:10).
18. He may ask God for permission to sift you out for concentrated attack and temptation (Luke 22:31).
19. He may use the power of suggestion to move you away from the will of God (Matt 16:21-23).
20. He may try to cripple your effectiveness through confusion, discouragement, and despair (2 Cor 4:8-9).
